Day 168

Movie Night was a hit and went smashing.  Had help from Eric when the screen was blowing around and then the wind died down and it was perfect conditions.  The morning went well with the MLM and quiz and then got a poster presentation done and studied for a few before setting up for movie night!

Day 167

MLM with Quiz and then OSCE that was good.  Played some hoop and then studied a little bit. 

Day 166

OMM all day and then dutches with a follow up of TRON in IMAX at the museum.  Good times. 

Day 165

School with lecture and then practiced my OSCE and Played some soccer!  We won 4-0 ohh yeah.  I may or may not have scored a goal...

Day 164

TMS race and it was long I worked 30 hours in food stands this weekend and we made some good cash for our class I hope. It was long but pretty fun don't like to miss MLM's but it is what it is. 

Day 163

3 lectures but skipped one and ate lunch then had some BBall time with people from class.  good times

Day 162

Ethics presentation in the morning and then some immuno histology with a canceled lecture.  So what do you do when you lecture gets canceled?  Go to a half price Rangers Baseball game with 20 class mates.  Then that evening we had a panel of 4th year students that matched into residency programs in surgery and anesthesia talk to us about the process and what they did.  Learned a lot and had a great day. 

Day 161

Heme test and then started Immuno thangs... sorry it took me a while its been busy

Heme test and cleaning up my house were the highlights and soccer later tonight!

Day 158 & 159

2 MLM's on Thursday and then research appreciation day on Friday and I also volunteered at one of the local shelters.  always a good time.  Volleyball was not so hot tonight but what can you do....

Day 157

Not having class until one was great.  The class was fun as Dr. Cunningham always keeps students on their toes.  The quiz was challenging but a good review and I felt that it went really well.  then to food and a quick nap and now try to get some study done so I am not too behind this weekend for our exam on Monday.

Day 156

Class, Running, burgers and study that is how its done!  I made the news and didn't know it.  I went running on the trinity trail after class and later was asked if I was on the news by a classmate.  Indeed there was a camera on the trail as I was finishing my run and it was on the news.  I asked Jax who I was running with jokingly if she thought we would be on the news to which she just chuckled and said "yeah right."

Day 155

Well an MLM with a quiz to start the day and done by lunch.  We took a pic for a story on my classmate that went into V fib while playing basket ball.  but the highlight of the day was soccer.  I had a lot of fun.  we played a team of college kids that were really good and our team stepped up and played really well.

Day 154

OMM comp and then some volley ball to top of the evening.  We won all of our games and it was a good time. 

Day 153

Another OMM test and another unsure feeling.  Followed with some Heme.  I still wish it was spring break. 

Day 152

Wed with more class and then the after noon off and time to get studying for OMM.  Well I guess I have been but its bright an early in the morning. 

Day 150 and 151

Spring break is over and its right back to the grind of school! 

Day 148 and 149

since 149 was just our exam and I did an intubation clinic but nothing else to the day I lumped them together.

Day 147

Today was a good day but a little long.  Class was a bit sketchy but now after looking at things its going not to bad.  quiz tomorrow should be good. 

Day 146

FOT Quiz went OK.  There were a couple reading assignments that I didn't see posted that sure would have helped me out but I did well enough with the things I studied.  Clin med and OMM was nice learning more cervical spine stuff. 

Day 145

Monday of FOT and we had 3 lectures and then the day to study.  Not to bad but we will see how these quizes go this week. 

Day 144

Repro test went good but not as good as the practical. I felt like I did really well with it.  So that is that and now we have a little time this weekend to get prepped for a 1 week class called fundamentals of treatment. 

Day 143

Night before the Repro exam and I have some studying to do.  so I am going to get my sleepy eyes to it! 

Day 142

OK OK I need a hair cut or just to wear a hat.  Maybe it will happen after this weekend when I have some time.  I have a lot more important things in the mean time like not failing this exam on friday.  Anyway today was ok clinical stuff was fine but the professor for the first few hours what a bit odd with some things but we wont get into that.  anyway last day of gross lab which is bitter sweet. 

Day 141

Today we had class and I tried to listen the best I could but blah blah is all I heard for a few hours.  After class and OMM where we learned cervical spine manipulation I had an MSGA meeting that lasted the remainder of the evening.  and there you have it. 

Day 140

Long day up before six and now its midnight and time for sleep.  but I did get to enjoy lab today and had fun playing soccer.  good monday. 

Day 139

We had a few hours of lecture in the morning and then I was able to go to the homeless shelter and enjoy some time there with upper class folks and see some interesting things in the patients that we were fortunate to do a health screen for.  

Day 138

Another day another couple lectures. Then went and visited our sage mentor. 

Day 137

DO Day on the hill in Austin was a good time.  Got to meet with some of the aids for different senators and representatives.  Enjoyed the bus ride and now home and real tired.

Day 136

OMM cervical spine  and clin med pelvic exam what a day!  At least dutches was there to save the day with a great burger.  Now I gotta sleep so I can wake up at 3 and go to Austin to meet with some government folks.

Day 135

Took the test and now just wait to see how things turned out.  Started the repro section after the test.  but had the afternoon off and played some basketball and then had a soccer game.

Day 134

Today was nuts.  had a quiz in the morning and then went to play some basketball with some classmates and while we were playing one of the guys playing with us went into cardiac arrest.  really crazy thing but he was with 10 med students (he is one also) so we sprung into action and used the AED to save his life.  Never thought I would see that this early in medical education.  CPR class really paid off.

Day 133

Omm exams are blah and that is just how it is.  never know how they will turn out and just hope for the best

Day 132

I didn't miss the quiz today!  but the AOA president spoke at lunch and then we took some photos with her as the MSGA council from school.  Also lecture was short and ethics was not to bad.  overall good day and now just prepping for OMM exam in the morning.  7:30 exams are the worst

Day 131

Today I slept through a quiz in the morning which isn't the best idea I have ever had but that is life.  5 points wont kill me but it sure would have been nice to get cause I heard it was a really easy quiz.  Anywho Class after that wasn't bad and then we didn't have OMM cause we have an exam on Thurs so we had clin med and it was on thyroid and for Diabetes and thyroid issues.   That was it and then I had and MSGA meeting that went on for ever and after we met up with a rep from the AOA to talk about our school and tomorrow the AOA president will be speaking at our school. 

Day 130

Just one class that was longer than it needed to be on thyroid disorders and then some studying and soccer.  scored a goal at the end and we are coming together and playing better.  A lot of fun and I am really out of shape. 

Day 129

Renal test came and went as they all do and I know I didn't fail the class cause we got an email from our course directer ofter we took it giving us the breakdown.  Anyway class after the exams was difficult to pay attention so I did some online shopping and found a new laptop for myself which will make this blog a lot easier!  I am beat and sorry for saying umm so much it was way past my bed time..

Day 128

Another long day of class and a com res class on the deaf and blind to end the day that was very informative.  The night has been full of studying for our renal exam that we have in the morning.  Can't wait to have it over with. 

Day 127

What a super long day.  we had a lot of lecture and then more lecture. we had to make up cause we had a snow day so now its thurs and we have our renal exam scheduled for Sat now with 4 hours of class after.  That sounds like the best way I have ever heard to spend an entire Saturday. 

Day 126

Today we started Endocrine and that was a blast!  no one cared cause we haven't taken our renal exam! 

Day 125

OK so today is really day 125 and we had class which was sooo soo much fun.  One of the longest days of my life but that is how it goes.  at school by 9 and got home at 7:30 can't beat that at all!  If all goes well the make up will be over soon unless mother nature has something to say about it.

Day 124 & 125

So no school on Friday but now its Sunday so we are having class which is lame but they are letting us out in time for the super bowl!  In total we have had 4 snow days and now we get to play catch up.

Day 122 and 123

So the snow and Ice didn't melt so we had school cancelled for another couple of days what a joke

Day 121

today I didn't go to class cause of a nice big ice storm that shut down everything. So the school called it a snow day!  Ohh and yes I am wearing the same clothes I had on yesterday.

Day 120

Today we took our first renal Exam and then had a little lecture to boot

Day 119

No real class to speak of but I got to go to the night shelter and do some health screenings with some class mates and upper class-men as well.  There is a lot to learn and its great experience.  I had a good time with the people there and the 3rd and 4th year students that showed up also. 

Day 118

Today we had classes on embryology in the morning and histology with a post exam review mixed in.  I argued on a question and got some points back for the class which was nice.  Then went and played basketball and caught a stray hand to the face and split my eye open .  So this evening I super glued it shut and moving along.

Day 117

Today we had class and a speaker from the company that writes our board exams come and speak.  That was the boring part of the day.  After class I went to a rehab center and had a great time there learning and getting to know people dealing and struggling with addiction. 

Day 116

OMM lecture and lab with some renal filtration for spice and a lesson on soap notes make for a long tues.  Then Dutches saved the day with a great burger an some good people.

Day 115

GI exam was fine and we wasted no time starting renal right after the exam.  its a shame but that is how it goes.  Good news is I played some b-ball with some class mates and had fun with that. 

Day 114

I did this on Sat after and MSGA team building exercise so here you go.  GI test monday!

Day 113

Today was good with class in the morning and clinical interviewing in the afternoon and then a TOMA meeting for the evening.  I really enjoyed the meeting this evening and mingling with fellow student doctors and practicing physicians as well. 

Day 112

We had some lipid and obesity lectures in the morning and then didn't get lunch due to grand rounds which was really less than  exciting today!  We then had a community resources class where abuse was the topic.  the saving grace came after class when I played some soccer after school and then home for study time.

Day 111

Well its the begining of a short week and then more tests for me then done with GI.  This class will be a rough one for most but they will end up curving it I am sure.  today was actually not a bad day at all.  A little long but overall not to bad.

Day 110

well the test was not so hot and the average wasn't good but that is how it goes.  the professor wasn't shocked and said nothing which really suprised me.  guess we will get our scores monday

I think I said day 108 in the video cause I didn't realize.  The exam was not terrible but could have been written better but that is life.  Now its over and ready to finish this class in another few days.

Another week down and more GI next week.  Nice part was today was not to bad with only 3 lecture hours and then I played some basketball berfore studying and catching the end of the Cotton Bowl

Today we had a 3 hour lecture on the GI physiology and how you Pooh, vomit , and fart!  wow really awesome stuff.  OK not so much but it is pretty funny to here a PHD give a lecture about it and be very proper. Don't mind my awesome hat hair!

So the blog posting wasn't working last night so tonight I post this and another.  todays lecture of GI stuff was not too bad and then we got to open an abdominal cavity and have a look around.  a lot of stuff in there. 

Day 102

Sorry for the delay in posting these.  I thought I had but nope.  Today was more lecture and some OMM and clin med.  Then this evening I had my first MSGA meeting which I enjoyed and look forward to doing more with it.  Ohh and disregard the creepy smile in the begining of the video.

Today was a new semester and it starts with the GI.  should be a fine class more anatomy and then lab today.
